Deputies said the owner decided to stay and watch after he saw items piled up outside the fence.
Deputies said the owner, Greg Guess was tired of thieves stealing scrap metal and around 7 a.m. Wednesday, he saw more signs of a burglary.
Deputies said a section of fence was busted down and two vehicle axles, several aluminum tire rims and an engine harness were left outside the fence.
Guess then told nearby neighbors about the suspicious activity and asked them to keep an eye out for anyone who comes by to take the stuff, deputies said.
Deputies said around 11:20 a.m., Wednesday Matthew Meyers and Marc Wilson arrived with an innocent friend's truck and started tossing the items into the bed, but a couple of watchful neighbors saw the activity and called the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrived moments later and caught the men in the act.
Deputies said Meyers admitted to having broken into the property the previous night and moving the scrap metal items, but needed a truck because the items were too heavy.
Meyers and Wilson were both arrested and taken to the Volusia County jail, deputies said.
