Small plane flips, crashes at DeLand Airport

FAA investigating cause of plane crash

DeLAND, Fla. – Authorities are investigating what caused a single engine aircraft to flip over and crash while landing at the DeLand Municipal Airport on Tuesday.

DeLand police said the plane, a 1977 Cessna 152, was landing at the airport at around 3 p.m. when it flipped over and came to a rest on its roof just off the runway in the grass.

Police said the pilot, identified as Natascha Wuench, was able to get out of the plane and was taken to Florida Hospital DeLand with a minor injury.

High winds and rain are believed to be a factor in the crash, according to police. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
