Jerry Demings re-elected as Orange County sheriff

Demings defeats John Tegg for second term

ORLANDO, Fla. – Jerry Demings was re-elected as the Orange County sheriff.

Demings, a Democrat who was elected as sheriff in 2008 over former Edgewood police chief John Tegg, beat him again in Tuesday's election.

Under Demings, crime has decreased by 20 percent in Orange County, according to crime statistics.

Meanwhile, the Flagler County sheriff's race was too close to call as Flagler officials will wait for all provisional votes and overseas absentee ballots are counted. Provisionals are canvassed on November 8 and overseas absentee ballots are canvassed on November 16.
