Trayvon Martin Memorial items moved to Historic Goldsboro Welcome Center Martin shot, killed by George Zimmerman
SANFORD, Fla. – The City of Sanford has transferred items it has collected for the Trayvon Martin memorial to the Historic Goldsboro Welcome Center.
According to a city release, the items for the Trayvon Martin Memorial were transferred from the Sanford museum as a response to a proposal from Frances Oliver, curator for Historic Goldsboro Welcome Center.
The city has had the consent of Martin's family, according to the release.
Martin was shot and killed by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman on Feb. 26. Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in the 17-year-old Martin's shooting following an altercation in Sanford. He has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense under Florida's "stand your ground" law.
