OVIEDO, Fla. – Police in Oviedo are investigating a deadly construction zone accident.

Two SUVs collided just before 11 p.m. Friday on E. Mitchell Hammock Road near Alafaya.

One male, 75-year-old Jesse Smith, was pronounced dead at the scene

Two females were taken to the hospital where one of them, 76-year-old Icena Smith, was later pronounced dead at the Oviedo ER. The second unidentified female is reported to have non-life threatening injuries.

According to the investigation so far, police say Mr. and Mrs. Smith were attempting to make a left turn from westbound Mitchell Hammock onto Clara Lee Evans Way when Mr. Smith failed to yield the right of way and turned into the path of a vehicle traveling east on Mitchell Hammock Road.
