Deputies identify 2 people in Windermere officer death

2 'suspicious individuals' found deceased near scene, according to deputies

WINDERMERE, Fla. – Orange County deputies said they have identified the two teens found dead in connection to officer Robert German's death.

Deputies said 18-year-old Brandon Goode and 17-year-old Alexandria Hollinghurst, both of Davenport, were the pair found dead in the bushes.

The shooting happened at around 4:30 a.m. in the area of Conroy Windermere Road and Horizon Circle.

Windermere Police Chief David Ogden said Officer Robert "Robbie" German, 31, was checking with two individuals walking down the road when he called for officer backup.

"Orange County Sheriff's Office and Orlando Police Department responded," Ogden said. "When officers arrived on scene they found Officer German had been shot and they did a rescue on Officer German."

Four Orange County Sheriff's Office deputies, one Orlando police officer and one Ocoee police officer were part of the tactical rescue German.

German was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center by authorities, where he died.

"Our condolences to the family of Officer Robert German," Ogden said. "Our hearts and thoughts and prayers go out to the family."

Goode and Hollinghurst were found dead across street from the shooting scene at 9350 Conroy/Windermere Road. They are considered suspicious individuals, deputies said.

"It appears they likely committed suicide," said Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.

Goode has a criminal record according to Florida Department of Law Enforcement records. It includes a felony arrest for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in a 2012 domestic incident when he was a juvenile. He was also arrested this year for drug possession and possession of alcohol by someone under 21.

Hollinghurst has no criminal record in Florida.

Deputies said they don't believe there are any other suspects in the shooting.

OCSO will conduct the investigation.

German had been with the force for five years and had just returned from being on light duty while recovering from surgery. Ogden said German was one of the best officers on the force.
