Dr. Phillips Center holding auditions for Central Florida child

The brand new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is holding auditions for a child for their Grand Premiere show.

The show is called "Broadway & Beyond at the Walt Disney Theater", presented by Dr. Phillips Charities and Balfour Beatty Construction.

The cast includes several Broadway performers, including Norm Lewis, the current Phantom on Broadway, leading soprano, Deborah Voigt, Sierra Boggess (Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, The Little Mermaid) and NBC The Voice's, Chris Mann.

Broadway producer Richard Jay-Alexander and musical director Mary-Mitchell Campbell are looking for an Orlando-based female singer between the ages of 9 and 14 to perform a solo number in the show.

Singers who wish to audition must bring sheet music for their audition song in the correct key, clearly marked for beginning and end points. An accompanist will be provided-- backing tracks, a capella singing and Karaoke will not be allowed. Singers must also be prepared to sing Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg's Over the Rainbow (from "The Wizard of Oz").

Parents must be present with their child, but will not be allowed in the audition room. They will need to bring a current photo and be ready to fill out an information form.

Registration begins Thursday at 2 p.m., with auditions lasting from 3 p.m.-9 p.m.

For those invited to attend, callbacks will take place Friday between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.
