According to Sanford police, Fayson used a tree branch to strike the 5-year-old about 17 times on his lower back, four times on the buttocks and 11 times on his thighs.  The child was left with multiple open wounds and sores, which promoted Fayson to use "first aid ointment" on them, according to police.

Fayson is also accused of using the switch on the 7-year-old, hitting him at least 12 times, police said.

Sanford police said Fayson admitted to using the switch on the children as a form of discipline.  Police did not say what led to the punishment.

A medical examiner classified the injuries as "extreme child abuse/physical
punishment."

Fayson was arrested and taken to the Seminole County jail.
