Former Orlando-Orange County Expressway member sentenced to 7 years in prison

ORLANDO, Fla. – The former Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority member who was convicted of bribery was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison on Friday.

Scott Batterson was found guilty in August on both charges of soliciting unlawful compensation and bribery.

He faced up to 30 years in prison, but the state asked for 3.5 years.

A jury found that Batterson offered a $5 million contract to an engineering consultant when he was a board member on the expressway authority.

Batterson was indicted on bribery charges in April.

Gov. Rick Scott appointed Batterson to the expressway authority in 2011.
