2 arrested in connection with Indialantic homicide

INDIALANTIC, Fla. – Deputies arrested a man and teenager Tuesday in connection with a murder and attempted murder that took place Sunday at a home in the 300 block of Riviera Boulevard in Indialantic.

According to deputies, Joseph Howard Milman, 25, has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm.

Justin Dee Howard, 17, was also charged in connection with the incident that left Scott Hyatt, 51, dead and Robert Mell, 48, in critical condition at Holmes Regional Medical Center.

Deputies said Howard provided the firearm Milman used in the shooting.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, an investigation revealed that Milman had previously talked about committing a robbery for prescription medication that Hyatt possessed. Milman reportedly met Howard Sunday before getting the gun from him and walking to the house on Riviera Boulevard, where he allegedly shot Hyatt and Mell and stole drugs.

Milman was taken to the Brevard County Jail and Howard is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center. Both are being held without bond.
