Florida deputy helps save injured bald eagle

Bird appeared to have been hit by car

OCALA, Fla. – A Marion County sheriff's deputy came to the rescue of a struggling bald eagle, giving the protected animal a second chance to fly.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Deputy O'Cull was off duty when he and a few other witnesses came across an injured bald eagle on the side of the road.

The eagle appeared to have been struck by a car.

O'Cull and others called wildlife officers and protected the bird until help arrived. 

Veterinarians and wildlife officers recovered the injured eagle and are now taking care of the bird.
