Longtime leader Meg Crofton retiring from Disney

Longtime Disney leader Meg Crofton announced on Tuesday she is retiring.

Crofton is in charge of all Disney parks and resorts in the United States and Europe. She was president of Walt Disney World for about five years before being promoted to her current job in 2011.

In a statement, Crofton said it was time to take it easy.

"I am deeply proud of every moment I have spent here and I am so excited and confident about the future of our company," she wrote. "It is that excitement that makes my decision to retire so bittersweet."

Crofton steps down in June 2015.
