Mother, son escape injury in Daytona Beach fire

Fire breaks out at Indigo Plantation Apartments

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Fire breaks out at a Daytona Beach apartment complex, forcing a mother and her son to flee.

A mother at Indigo Plantation Apartments, 100 Powell Blvd. in Daytona Beach said she heard crackling noises and went to her sliding glass door and saw flames. She grabbed her son and ran out of the apartment and contacted 911.

When firefighters arrived on scene, the fire, which started on the third floor, had consumed the porch and had spread to the attic. The apartment building was evacuated and the fire was quickly put out. The damage was contained to the porch and attic however; there is significant water damage to the third floor apartment and the units below.

No injuries were reported.
