According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, a source alerted detectives that Nowden was transporting heroin and crack cocaine from Michigan to Florida.
Deputies said Nowden was spotted speeding in a Chrysler Town and Country minivan and was pulled over. A K-9 alerted deputies that drugs were in the van, according to the Sheriff's Office, which said that a digital scale with a powdery substance was located.
A further investigation showed that Nowden had drugs in his rectum, said deputies.
Nowden was taken to Florida Hospital Flagler, where 20 grams of heroin, 10 grams of cocaine and eight hydromorphone tablets were removed from his rectum, deputies said.
"Keeping our community safe and drugs off our streets is our priority," said Flagler Sheriff James L. Manfre. "Our detectives did an outstanding job."
Nowden was arrested and taken to the Flagler County jail.
