LEESBURG, Fla. – A teen accused of bringing a gun onto the campus of Leesburg High School tells police he and a friend stole the gun while burglarizing a nearby home.
KeiAndre Lovett, 16, was arrested on Wednesday, accused of bringing the .38-caliber gun and a pocket full of hollow point bullets onto the campus 31 miles away from his home in Apopka.
His motive is not known, police said.
According police reports, Lovett told police he and a friend, named "Trap Low," broke into a home on Shore Acres Drive in Leesburg on Tuesday.
He said they gathered jewelry and guns.
He told police Low gave him a choice: take the 223 assault rifle or the .38-caliber gun. He says he chose the gun.
Leesburg police estimate 18 guns were stolen from that home.
