A judge sentenced Lothar Schafer to four months behind bars and two years of probation. Schafer will start serving his time Thursday.
During the time of Schafer's probation. He is not allowed to possess any firearms.
Schafer, 57, entered a no contest plea after his son allegedly used his guns during a deadly shooting spree in 2013.
Schafer stood before the judge with his attorney Don Waggoner by his side as he waived his rights to a trial.
Schafer who is deaf, used a sign language interpreter to enter his plea and answer the judge's questions.
Police say his son, Konrad Schafer, is responsible for more than a dozen shootings and two murders.
Detectives say Konrad told them he killed 17-year-old David Guerro at a bus stop "just for fun" and days later, 22-year-old Eric Roopnarine was killed during a home invasion.
Konrad, who is now 17, faces life in prison if convicted later this year.
Waggoner called the sentencing fair and believes the case regarding Lothar Schafer is resolved.
