World's tallest drop tower coming to SkyPlex in Orlando

Riders to plummet from 450 feet in air

ORLANDO, Fla. – Along with the world's tallest roller coaster, the world's tallest drop tower will be built on International Drive in Orlando, according to the developer.

Skyfall will drop riders from 450 feet, said Josh Wallack, developer of SkyPlex, a 570-foot attraction that will also be home to The Skyscraper, the world's tallest roller coaster.

It will be very similar to a ride in Six Flags New Jersey, although Skyfall will be taller (see video below).

SkyPlex, which will also have an observation deck, is scheduled to open in 2017.

Meanwhile, the Orlando Eye, a giant observation wheel nearby on I-Drive, is scheduled to open this spring.  And the world's tallest swing, Star Flyer, will open next year.
