Teacher accused of molesting girl in classroom

Anthony Joseph Salvo arrested on multiple charges

ORLANDO, Fla. – A teacher was arrested Wednesday in Orange County on allegations of touching students inappropriately.

Anthony Joseph Salvo, 31, of St. Cloud, who teaches at Renaissance Charter School in Hunters Creek, was arrested on charges of lewd or lascivious molestation on a victim under 18, lewd or lascivious conduct and false imprisonment of a child under the age of 13.

According to an Orange County arrest affidavit, last month Salvo told a 12-year-old student to come to his classroom for help with some school work.  Salvo locked the door and began massaging the girl's upper thigh, according to the affidavit.

Salvo allegedly picked the girl up and simulated a sexual position, said officials, who added that Salvo then asked her, "Do you know what comes next?"

The girl became upset and left the room, saying Salvo unlocked the classroom door, the affidavit said.

According to officials, an 11-year-old girl told investigators that Salvo, who was helping her with a hand injury, would not let her leave the classroom last month and placed his hands on either side of her head for two minutes without saying anything.  Salvo eventually allowed the girl, who felt trapped and scared, to leave, officials said.

Local 6 spoke to a parent who said his 12-year-old daughter is possibility another victim.

"A teacher, somebody your supposed to trust, touching your own daughter and other little girls that are 11 or 12 years old -- that's just sick," the parent said.

Local 6 isn't naming the man who said said Salvo hugged his daughter, making her feel uncomfortable. He said the teacher was also inappropriate in a classroom.

"Somehow the lights went out and the guy told her, 'Why don't you just stay with me in the dark?' That's just creepy, you know?"

Salvo was interviewed by investigators, who said he admitted to engaging in lewd contact with one of the girls and that he's sexually attracted to her.

Salvo also told deputies that he resigned from his previous teaching job in South Florida after he was caught asking a 17-year-old student on a date, officials said.

Deputies say there is a parallel investigation into Salvo in which he is accused of molesting more students.

Salvo is being held on no bond at the Orange County Jail.
