NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – The grandson of a woman who was found dead inside of her home has surrendered to the FBI and has been arrested.
Darlene Robertson, 64, was found unresponsive inside of her home on DeSoto Drive by her family, according to New Smyrna Beach police.
Patrick Campbell, 27, Robertson's grandson and the person of interest in her death, surrendered himself to agents Thursday afternoon after a nearly 24 hour search.
Robertson's vehicle was also recovered in the FBI parking lot.
It's not clear what Campbell's charges are.
Neighbors said Robertson lived alone and was a good neighbor. Her son found her dead in the living room around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday after she didn't show up for work.
911 caller: "I think she's been stabbed. Yeah, I think, I can see a wound on her stomach. I, I have no idea. I think she's been stabbed."
Police said Campbell was seen at the house sometime overnight. Police found his bike in the garage and Robertson's car was missing.
There was no forced entry into the home.
Crime scene investigators didn't show up until a little after 3 p.m., along with a warrant to search the home.
Robertson suffered blunt trauma to the head. There were some cuts and stab wounds to her midsection.
Neighbors told Local 6 that investigators were at the house since Wednesday morning, waiting to get a warrant to get into an apartment above the garage to see what evidence they might find inside the grandson's home.
