Man sought in attempted burglary

CLERMONT, Fla. – Clermont police are searching for the man involved in break-in who they say was discovered after climbing into a woman's bedroom window.

[AUDIO: 911 call released]

The woman's 19-year-old daughter told Local 6 her mom had never seen the man before.

"So she sat up and was like, 'Who are you?'" said Jamie Jenkinson. "And she said the guy just looked shocked that she was even in her room and was like 'Umm' she said 'Get out!' And he jumped out the window."

Police said the incident was reported early Monday morning at a home on Southridge Road.

According to police, the woman said she was in her bedroom sleeping when she woke up to a noise by her window just before 1 a.m.

"I don't know what we would have done if she hadn't woken up, I don't know what would have happened," said Jenkinson. "It's really scary, my whole family was in the house and this guy just walked in. You don't even feel safe in your house anymore."

Police said the man had to pull the screen off the window and lift the window open to get into the room.

Jenkinson says the screen was not cut or punctured, and nothing inside or outside the house was taken.

"At this time we are not releasing the victim's name nor her address, as we are actively working the case with some follow-up interviews," said Clermont Police Capt. Michael McMaster. "The outcome of those interviews will dictate our next step in the investigation. As soon as we are able to release more information we will advise."

The Jenkinsons describe the man as just under 6 feet tall, white, with reddish brown short hair and a mustache, well-built, and wearing a red sleeveless shirt and jeans.
