ORLANDO, Fla. – Security was tight as a moving van loaded with mummies arrived at the Orlando Science Center on Wednesday.
They were part of the new exhibit, "Mummies," that opens to the public on June 13.
"Hollywood has created such myths about mummies -- they're scary or they're going to come out and get you," said Marcus Corwin of American Exhibitions. "But in fact, they're not like that."
Corwin said each mummy has a story.
Whether it was preserved on purpose, such as the Egyptians, or by accident, like many frozen cave dwellers were preserved, there are stories to learn from.
"These are real people. They had real lives just like you and I. Some of them dating back as much as 4,500 years old," he said.
Crews will spend the next week setting up the exhibit.
Corwin wouldn't say how long it would be open in Orlando, but he did tell Local 6 as long as there's a demand, they will be there.
