ORANGE CITY, Fla. – Volusia County deputies are searching for convicted sex offender who is accused of drugging a 20-year-old woman and sexually assaulting her.
Jason Minton, 39, faces sexual battery and kidnapping charges in the Monday attack, according to Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the victim met Minton on Monday and agreed to go out with him, but instead of going to a restaurant, Minton took her to a bar in Orange City and bought her several drinks.
According to the report, after drinking at the bar, Minton was supposed to take the victim to a restaurant, but instead brought her to his house on West Minnesota Avenue in Orange City.
Minton then forced a white pill down her throat and the victim immediately became incapacitated and couldn't move or talk, deputies said.
The victim woke up to Minton on top of her and tried to fight him off, but couldn't, according to the report.
Deputies said the victim was eventually able to run out of the house and a relative took her to a hospital for medical attention.
Bar employees told deputies that the man with the victim was a regular patron and that led to an arrest warrant for Minton being issued on Friday.
Deputies are searching for Minton, who is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Contact deputies if you have any information on his whereabouts.
