Deputies say boy mistakenly shot teen

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 15-year-old was arrested Wednesday on allegations of shooting a 17-year-old by mistake on the patio of an Orlando home, deputies said.

Jacquavius Smith was arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful discharge of a firearm.  He also faces a violation of probation for trespassing, Orange County deputies said.

The shooting occurred Tuesday in the 1500 block of Ridge Pointe Drive near Silver Star Road.

Orange County sheriff's deputies said the shooting was initially described to them as a stray bullet that struck the 17-year-old in the chest while he was standing in his backyard.  The teen was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center as a trauma alert.  He was listed in stable condition.

Deputies said Smith was holding a gun when he accidentally shot the teen.
