ORLANDO, Fla. – Vanessa Richmond said she has received some relief since the ceiling of her Orlando apartment collapsed under the weight of leaking water, but the problems continue to mount.
"I really feel like you guys are getting some kind of results 'cause I've gotten nothing from them for four years and now it's time because lives are in danger," Richmond told News 6.
For the past week, Richmond has gone back and forth with management at her Cypress Pointe at Lake Orlando Apartment Complex. After News 6's story aired on Monday showing viewers her collapsed ceiling over a ruptured pipe, people responded and one man offered help.
However, since News 6's story aired, now more people in the community are coming forward voicing similar concerns.
"I've been living here since December and I've had four water leaks," said Richmond.
Conswayla Green is Richmond's neighbor and relative. She said she spotted her ceiling leaking and fears she may wake up to a similar fate, a caved-in ceiling or a collapsed one.
"I'm concerned about everybody in the building because the more water, the more mold. You know, it's killing all of us because we're breathing it in our sleep. It's dangerous," said Green.
Repeated calls into True Holdings LLC have gone unanswered. News 6 emailed Joanne Martinez, the property manager Wednesday and still awaiting a response. Monday, she told News 6's Sheli Muniz that they have stopped the leak. However, like Green, the fear is that it is only patched up and not a permanent fix. Meanwhile, Richmond's battle continues.
"She owes me a deposit. I haven't heard from her. She hasn't answered the phones, she's not answering my message," said Richmond.
