Tinker Field memorial plans unveiled

Drawings show proposed pavilion at site of old ballpark

ORLANDO, Fla. – City leaders in Orlando have unveiled plans for downtown's historic Tinker Field.

Drawings were unveiled at a special meeting Tuesday, that show a new, proposed pavilion at the site of the old ballpark.

It would include a monument to some of the field's history including Jackie Robinson playing there and Martin Luther King Jr. speaking on the field.

Many people have been unhappy the park's grandstands were torn down. But, city leaders are vowing to make sure the field's place in history will be remembered.

More public input and even an online survey is planned before any final decisions are made.
