Amy Day, 44, has been charged with premeditated murder. Deputies said Day did not cooperate with the investigation, but instead provided inconsistent statements to detectives.
The body was found earlier this week during the missing person search for Ora "Lea" Hawkins, 79, at Hawkins' home on Lake Shore Drive.
The Medical Examiner's Office positively identified the body found at Lake Shore Drive in St. Cloud as Hawkins. Deputies said the specific cause of death has not been determined, but detectives are investigating the incident as a homicide.
During the course of the investigation, detectives discovered Day, Hawkins' daughter, made inconsistent statements regarding her mother's missing person's investigation, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said Day changed details about where she was and who she was with during the period of time her mother disappeared.
Based on information and evidence, detectives obtained a felony warrant for Day's arrest.
