Disney guests stranded for hours on monorail at Magic Kingdom
Dozens of passengers rescued from vehicle
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Dozens of passengers were taken off a monorail at Magic Kingdom that became stuck Saturday, Fire Rescue officials said.
The monorail was stuck Saturday afternoon between Disney's Contemporary Resort and the Magic Kingdom. Reedy Creek Fire Rescue said it became stuck due to a mechanical issue.
Orange County Fire Rescue headed to the scene to assist Reedy Creek crews in getting dozens of passengers down using a fire ladder.
Reedy Creek Fire Rescue said the rescue took just over two hours, but everyone who was taken off the monorail is OK.
No injuries were reported and no one was in need of medical attention, officials said.
World Drive was shut down between the Magic Kingdom and Disney's Contemporary Resorts, which created major traffic problems, according to Reedy Creek Fire Rescue.
