POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Polk County teacher was arrested Monday after deputies say students saw pornography on a teacher's phone during class.
Vadi Valez-Gonzalez, 47, a ninth-grader teacher at Mulberry High School, has been charged with showing obscene material to a minor and use of two-way communication to commit a felony.
Deputies said four students in Gonzalez's intensive reading class saw adult male pornography on his iPhone, which was sitting on his desk in plain view.
Deputies searched Gonzalez's phone and found that he had visited an inappropriate website 382 times between Sept. 30 and Oct. 13 and during school hours on at least two occasions.
Polk County Public Schools placed Gonzalez on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. He was arrested and booked into Polk County Jail on Monday.
