Chase, crash follow Lake Mary bank robbery, deputies say

Deputies say man robbed Chase bank, fled on I-4

LAKE MARY, Fla. – A search for a Lake Mary bank robbery suspect that prompted a chase has ended in a crash on Wednesday morning, according to deputies.

The bank robbery was reported at the Chase bank on Village Oak Lane in Lake Mary at 9 a.m.

Deputies said Joshua Rosario Morales, 31, passed a note to the teller demanding money and got into his vehicle. Bank employees called 911 to give the vehicle description and deputies chased Morales onto westbound Interstate 4.

Morales was driving erratically and going into the median and emergency lanes before getting off I-4 at State Road 434, heading toward Wekiva Springs State Park, according to deputies.

Deputies said Morales hit a vehicle, then crashed into a light pole at Wekiva Springs Road and Riverview Drive. The intersection was blocked as authorities investigated.

The Morales was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Upon medical clearance, he will be transported to jail.

Morales faces charges of robbery without a firearm or weapon, fleeing and eluding and driving on a suspended license with knowledge.

Deputies also said that the bank was robbed by a man fitting a similar description and investigators are looking into a possible connection.
