Mother of escaped inmate pleads for son to turn himself in

Gary Bullock escaped from Florida Department of Corrections last week

ORLANDO, Fla. – Meryl Horvatt said she's devastated that she hasn't heard from her 24-year old son, Gary Bullock Jr, an inmate who escaped from the Florida Department of Corrections last week.

"No matter what you have done or what Natasha has done, I love you. I just want you to come back home and turn yourself in," Horvatt said. "He was actually excited about it only being a few more months before he got out. we were helping him look for a house."

Investigators say Bullock worked maintenance at the El Caribe Resort in Daytona Beach Shores. He reported to work Friday morning but later cut off his ankle monitoring device and disappeared. Investigator's believe he is with his girlfriend Natasha Quigley and he 3-year old son, Xander. Bullock's mother says the two were planning a life together.

"They wanted to start a family, and it was very exciting and I was really looking forward it. This makes no sense," said Horvatt.

But it's the well-being of 3-year-old Xander that's on everyone's mind. Natasha's father says they wanted to put out an amber alert for the child but Natasha has custody.

"I don't know where they're at, I don't know what they're doing, I don't know what they're thinking. I know she loves Xander a lot. I know she loves him, but this is not the right way to do things for your kid you love," said Natasha's father Frank Carr.

"It's hard for me to know he's in the middle of this," Horvatt said.

Investigators think the three may be driving in a 2010 Chevy Cobalt with Florida tag EUJ L31.
