Applegate Naturals chicken nuggets recalled

Applegate Naturals chicken nuggets have been recalled after several customers reported finding small pieces of plastic in the product, a company representative said.

The company said the items being recalled are the 8 oz. packages with the "best before" date of Sept. 27, 2016.

The company said the recall involves a health hazard situation "in which there is a reasonable probability that eating the food will cause health problems or death."

No illnesses or injuries have been reported so far.

"Applegate is committed to the health and wellness of our consumers," a representative said in a statement. "We encourage consumers to return any affected product to the retailer from where the product was purchased for a full refund."
