Anchor Industries recalls safety pool covers due to drowning risk
Brass-plated snap hooks can break posing drowning risk
Safety pool covers made by Anchor Industries are being recalled due to defective brass plated snap hooks that can break posing a drowning risk, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s web-site.
The CPSC says that Anchor Industries safety pool covers with manufacture dates of Sept. 14, Oct 14, Nov 14 are subject to the recall.
The recall involves mesh and solid-material Anchor 5-Star, Anchor Mesh, Classic Solid and Defender Mesh brand custom safety pool covers. Each cover has cables that are connected to the pool wall using brass-plated snap hooks with a gold-tone spring tab, a seam and a hook end with a bezel.
There have been 20 reports of snap hook failures; however no injuries have been reported.
Consumers should immediately contact their pool cover dealer to schedule an inspection and replacement of the snap hooks.
You can contact Anchor Industries toll-free at 800-255-5552 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or click here to go to the CPSC web-site for more information.
