DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – One person is dead after a shooting early Saturday in Daytona Beach, police said.

An investigation revealed the victim was at the Overlook at Daytona North and was involved in an altercation with another person, police said.

The victim was shot once, according to Daytona Beach police.

The victim's friends took him in a car and went to the 700 block of North Oleander Avenue, police said. Authorities arrived at the location after learning a person was shot.

The victim was taken to Halifax Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A suspect has been identified. Police said that person was not in custody.
