An undercover detective working in the Winter Haven area said detectives were in the area responding to complaints of lewd activity.

The detective said he was at the Lake Fannie boat ramp when he saw an unknown white man walk into the woods.

"I walked into the wooded area where I made contact with the male. Then after some casual conversation I asked the unknown male what he was doing in the wooded area," the news release quoted the detective as saying.

Charest asked the detective to commit a lewd act and the detective then showed Charest his badge, identifying himself, deputies said.

Charest was booked into the Polk County Jail and released after posting $250 bail.
