Couple arrested after police learn attack, stalking claims were lies

Brianna Lang, James Bradley Lang arrested Friday

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A Winter Haven couple were arrested after officials said a woman knowingly made false claims of attacks and stalking.

Police said Brianna Lang, 24, reported on several occasions over the month of July that a person had come into her fenced backyard while she was mowing and attacked her.

Lang told detectives that person stalked her, showing up at several businesses around Winter Haven.

Police said Lang provided a photo of the suspect, who she claimed was a black man, and helped detectives with a composite drawer of her attacker.

Detectives said Lang's co-workers confronted her after noticing obvious injuries on her. Police said Lang admitted to them she lied about the attacks and that her husband had choked her. She told them the person she described to officials as her attacker was actually a random customer at her work who had commented to her, "You should smile more."

Detectives said they learned Brianna Lang's husband, James Bradley Lang, had allegedly battered her in May and again in early July.

Brianna Lang was arrested and charged with knowingly giving false information to a law enforcement officer. Her husband, James Bradley Lang, was arrested and charged with domestic violence and domestic violence battery.
Both were booked into the Polk County Jail Friday night.

Brianna Lang is being held on $1,000 bail. Her husband is being held without bail.
