How to get free back-to-school physicals

Children must be uninsured; appointments required

ORLANDO, Fla. – Free back-to-school physicals are being offered in Central Florida for those without insurance.

Shepherd's Hope is offering the free physicals for children up to 18 years old. Patients must be uninsured, and appointments are required, Shepherd's Hope said.

"We want to make sure that people understand that their health and well being is essential to our community," said President and CEO Marni Stahlman.

With partners from Nemours Children's Health System and TLCRx Specialty Pharmacy, the exams are being provided for the third year in a row.  The service is aimed at children who have no additional options.

"It's incredibly important, because we have over 32,000 children in Seminole and Orange counties who are uninsured," said Stahlman.

Vision, hearing and autism screenings are also available for children receiving back-to-school physicals.

The physicals are being conducted in Longwood and Orlando.
