Driver rams car into Volusia Mall, steals $30K in merchandise, police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A driver rammed his car into Dillard's at the Volusia Mall before stealing $30,000 worth of merchandise and an ATM, Daytona Beach police said.

The theft was reported around 4:45 p.m. Oct. 7 as Hurricane Matthew was passing near Volusia County.

Daytona Beach police said what appeared to be a Dodge Neon crashed into a door of the store. The driver stole Michael Kors watches and purses and the ATM, which was later found with no money in a dumpster behind Honey Baked Ham on Bill France Boulevard, police said. 

Police on Friday released photos of the red car, which has a broken left tail light, that were taken by surveillance cameras.There is also a large sticker just left of the center of the trunk, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Daytona Beach police.
