Embry-Riddle professor accused of exposing himself to minor

Civil engineering professor faces multiple charges

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A civil engineering professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is accused of exposing himself to a minor and making the girl watch pornographic films with him, according to the Ormond Beach Police Department.

The victim's mother told police she found entries in her daughter's diary detailing encounters with 58-year-old Mark Fugler, according to the incident report. The girl wrote about Fugler's penis and drew pictures of body parts.

The girl told her mother that Fugler showed her his penis a few times and that he showed her pornographic films, but she said he never inappropriately touched her, police said.

Fugler was arrested at his home around 7:30 p.m. Friday. He is charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious conduct, three counts of showing obscene material to a minor, one count of child abuse and three counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition, according to records.

Embry-Riddle's website lists Fugler as a professor in the civil engineering department at the school's Daytona Beach campus. He was hired in 1996 and was teaching four classes at the time of his arrest.

A university spokesman told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that the school will fully cooperate with the investigation.
