Russell Gibson wins Osceola County sheriff's race

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Russell Gibson is the new sheriff in Osceola County.

With 98 percent of the precincts reporting, Gibson was voted into office by a margin of 47-40 percent over Dave Sklarek.

The race featured two retired Osceola County sheriff's employees, Gibson and Sklarek, along with Sgt. Marco Lopez, who ran with no party affiliation and write-in candidate Timothy Devine.

Sheriff Bob Hansell announced his retirement last year.
