ORLANDO, Fla. – A Southwest Airlines power outage caused delays at Orlando International Airport for nearly two hours Tuesday, according to a company spokesperson.
Travelers at OIA began tweeting photos and complaints about long lines late Tuesday afternoon.
"We're experiencing a temporary power outage at MCO," Southwest tweeted. "We're working to get our computers up and running as soon as possible."
An OIA spokesperson told News 6 that a ground stop for all incoming and outgoing Southwest Airlines flights was put in place until the problem could be addressed.
Bags had to be checked manually while the computers were down and crews worked to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem.
Long lines snaked around the outside of OIA, where agents checked luggage the old-fashioned way.
"What about our flights -- will they be canceled or delayed?" asked Mary Dvorak, who was trying to travel home to the Houston area.
She wasn't alone in her frustration.
"We don't know if (computers) are back up, if we should be waiting here, if we should just go home or go back to our hotel and have some fun," said Chris Osorio, of New York.
Lines were long inside the terminal, as well, where one line stretched from the Southwest Airlines ticket counter, passed security and almost reached the food court.
Southwest Airlines told News 6 that there were no cancellations, but the issue caused more than 20 delays system-wide. No flights were diverted, even though airport officials said there was a ground stop.
The outage lasted about 90 minutes to two hours, Southwest Airlines said.
Southwest was the only airline experiencing problems, officials said.
The airline tweeted just before 7 p.m. that the power outage had been fixed and lines should be "speeding up promptly."
