Featherless bird receives sweaters from around the world

Rhea has received 100 sweaters since September

BOSTON – Rhea, a featherless lovebird, was born with Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBFD), which causes her feathers to fall off.

Her feathers will never grow back, but her owner, Isabella Eisenmann, had a solution for her beloved bird.

Eisenmann started a Facebook page for Rhea, where she told the world about her disease and her story.

Rhea's disease makes her vulnerable for secondary infections and causes her to get colds easily. Because of that, she loves warm places like her owner's beanies and pockets.

Word spread about Rhea, and people from all around the world have fallen in love with her. People from near and far have sent Eisenmann tiny sweaters for Rhea to wear to keep warm.

Eisenmann said she is thankful for the love that Rhea gets, and hopes her social media posts will raise awareness about Rhea's disease.
