DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 30-year-old woman was arrested Monday afternoon on DUI charges after she crashed into a power pole in Daytona Beach, police said.

Brittany Ward was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and DUI causing serious bodily injury to another.

Police said Ward was driving a pickup truck when she crashed into a power pole on Indian Lake Road in Daytona Beach. Witnesses said the pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash, according to police.

Firefighters had to cut off the roof of the pickup to remove the passenger, Ward's 42-year-old boyfriend, police said. He was airlifted to a hospital with multiple injuries, police said.

Ward was taken into custody at the scene, police said.
