CRESCENT BEACH, Fla. – A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing Friday on Crescent Beach, authorities said.
The plane was able to avoid beachgoers and landed about 2 p.m. roughly a half-mile north of the beach access ramp, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue.
The pilot was not hurt and the aircraft was not damaged during the landing, the fire department said.
It remains unclear what forced the pilot to make an emergency landing. The fire department said crews worked to remove the aircraft from the beach before the tide comes in.
The Cessna plane, which has Embry-Riddle decals, appears to have taken off out of Daytona Beach about 12:15 p.m., according to the flight-tracking website FlightRadar24.com.
