NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Areas across Volusia County reported power outages Tuesday afternoon, which were restored as of 7 p.m.
A Duke Energy spokesperson said the widespread outages were caused by damage to the company's transmission line.

The Utilities Commission of New Smyrna Beach reported a citywide outage after 4 p.m.
Outages were reported in other Volusia County cities, including Orange City and Deltona, according to Duke Energy outage maps.
A representative for Duke Energy said about 21,000 customers were without power at 5:30 p.m. The outage started at 4:15 p.m. with 30,000 customers without power.
Duke Energy spokeswoman Ana Gibbs said the outages were connected because the company feeds New Smyrna utilities.
Residents calling to report an outage in New Smyrna had trouble getting through, because the city power agency said it was experiencing issues with its phone provider and was unable to receive calls.
Officials urged patience as they worked to find the cause of the outage and restore power.
"If you are trying to call us, please be aware that our phone system cannot handle a large volume of calls at any one time, and you may get an 'out of order' message," read a Facebook post from the Utilities Commission. "Your patience is appreciated."
Power was restored in New Smyrna Beach by 6 p.m., according to the Utilities Commission.
