New school of practical magic to open in Central Florida

Classes focus on manifesting emotions, energy

DeLAND, Fla. – Halloween is right around the corner, and for some people, it's a special time of the year when they can explore magic, and we're not talking about the type of hocus-pocus magic with witches mixing potions and using wands.

For Jo Maldonado, it's about the magic that we all possess.

She's getting ready to start a school of magic in Central Florida called Gryphons' Claw Practical School of Magic.

"A griffin is a magical creature, just like the dragons, and the griffins were historically known in fables to have a greater power than dragons, and the claw is symbolic of getting a hold of your intuition. The purpose of the school actually is to enhance your intuitive muscle," Maldonado said, adding that by learning how to better use our intuition, it can lead us to a better lifestyle.

Maldonado, who says she also knows how to communicate with animals, says we have to manifest what we want to happen in our lives.

"It's protecting what is in your mind and just kind of feeling as though it already happened, because when you put yourself in the spot as though it already happened, you feel it; you feel the emotion, and the emotion picks up your energy," Maldonado said.

But how do we teach our mind to do that?

"We start with centering; you really kind of have to be balanced and you kind of take this magical eraser to your brain, and you wipe out everything that's going on in the day," Maldonado said.

By clearing the clutter in our mind, Maldonado says we can improve our "clair senses" -- or intuitive senses, helping us get more clarity in any situation.

"These are things that you cross every day, it's just helping you understand how to read peoples' energy: peoples' body language. For example: what if you were doing an interview and you wanted to get a heads-up on the person that you were interviewing, and you walk into the room and they're over there, and what if you can read their mind, or what if you can kind of assess where they're going by their body language and their energy?" Maldonado said.

Maldonado displayed the power of her energy by placing a coin on a wall using only her finger. Even without tape or glue, the penny never fell to the floor.

The classes will be held Thursday in New Smyrna Beach, where students will be taught the art of psychometry. That is the ability to discover the events about something that happened by holding an object that was associated to that event.

On Friday, there will be an event open to the public at no cost at the Boston Coffee House, in DeLand.
