'The Weekly' highlights resources for veterans returning home after service

Counseling services, inpatient treatment, family resources available in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – Veterans Day is a time to celebrate and honor America's heroes for their patriotism, sacrifice and willingness to serve and protect our country.

On "The Weekly on ClickOrlando.com," News 6 anchor Justin Warmoth sat down with two veterans who work at the Orlando VA Medical Center to discuss how they help fellow veterans adjust after returning home from service.

"I truly feel like I'm giving back to not only veterans who are hospitalized, but also to their loved ones," Terri Turner said.

Turner manages the Orlando Fisher House, which houses families and caregivers of veterans and active duty military personnel receiving inpatient treatment at the Orlando VA Medical Center.

She's also a United States Army veteran, like her colleague Elizabeth Jackson, who works for the Orlando Vet Center.

"We're in the community and not in the hospitals," Jackson said. "We offer readjustment counseling services for war zone veterans, veterans who experience military sexual trauma and also bereavement for family members who lost somebody."

Because Veterans Day falls on a Sunday this year, it will be also be observed on Monday.
