Gunman sought after man killed, woman wounded in St. Cloud shooting

Rafael Primera may be driving silver Mazda with license plate 267RFL

ST. CLOUD, Fla. – Two people were shot, one fatally, Sunday during a domestic incident in the Sugar Mill subdivision in St. Cloud, according to police.

Authorities said Rafael Primera is wanted in the shooting, which was reported around 3:30 p.m. at a home on Cross Creek Court.

When St. Cloud police arrived, they said they found two people shot several times outside the home. A man in his late 50s was dead, and Primera's wife was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, officers said. She was listed in critical but stable condition Monday, police said.

"We do have witnesses who called in saying they heard gunshots," St. Cloud police Sgt. Frank De La Rosa said.

Officers said Primera should be considered armed and dangerous. His car was found abandoned in a parking lot of a Kissimmee business, police said Monday.

"We have not recovered a firearm at the (shooting) scene, and we are currently working with our neighboring agency at the moment, and a BOLO has been put out for the individual," De La Rosa said.

Neighbor Carla Johnson said she knows the man who was killed.

"Very nice man. (He) didn’t bother any neighbors. (He) kind of minded his own business," Johnson said.

Cindy Everett, who lives a block from the shooting scene, said she heard the gunshots.

"Oh yeah, I could just tell you how they sounded: pa, pa, pa, pa, pa, pa, like that. It was crazy," she said.

Everett, who has lived in the Sugar Mill community for over a year, said the shooting isn't typical of the neighborhood.

"It’s very quiet. It’s very, very quiet. People just walking (and0 taking their dogs for walks," Everett said. "It was sad. Very sad for the family of the deceased."

No other details have been released.

Anyone with information about about the whereabouts of Primera is asked to call the St. Cloud Police Department at 407-891-6700.
