Man sought in connection with fatal stabbing taken into custody, Daytona Beach police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A man wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing has been found, according to the Daytona Beach Police Department.

Daytona Beach police officers responded to the Citgo gas station at 600 W. International Speedway Blvd. at 4:37 a.m. Saturday.

Paramedics took Thebese Rankin to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Joe McCants has been taken into custody.

Officials are unable to release any other information at this time, including a possible motive.

"This homicide investigation is active and ongoing," officers said.
