Police: Girl says teacher molested her ‘pretty much the whole year’

Christian school teacher faces charges

A Christian charter school teacher accused of molesting a student appeared before a judge on Wednesday for the first time since his arrest.

Bond was set at $29,000 for Michael McMillian, 36, who taught at Victor Christian Academy on Ivey Lane.

McMillian was arrested on a warrant Tuesday on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation, lewd and lascivious conduct, child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and offenses against students by an authority figure.

Court records showed McMillian was the sixth-grade teacher of the victim during the 2018-2019 academic year.

According to an arrest affidavit, the girl came forward on Nov. 2 and told an investigator that McMillian touched her on the backside and chest after class on several occasions.

When asked how many times, the victim replied, "pretty much the whole year," according to the affidavit.

Records also showed that the Department of Children and Families received a call on their hotline that claimed McMillian admitted to victimizing other students from other institutions where he was previously employed.

Police said Victory Christian Academy terminated McMillian's employment once the allegations were disclosed.

The school hasn’t commented on the arrest, but according to the affidavit, the principal completed a sworn statement where she said McMillian confessed to touching the victim.
