ORLANDO, Fla. – University of Central Florida police alerted students on Tuesday after a Valencia College student riding a bike near campus was robbed Monday night.
Police said the victim, a 21-year-old woman, was riding her bike along the Little Econ Greenway Trail near Blanchard Park at 11 p.m. Monday when she was approached by three men.
The men, one of whom had a gun, stole her bike, backpack and electronics, according to police. The victim was not hurt.
"A guy that pulled out his gun and pointed it at me, so you definitely feared for your life," the victim told Local 6. "It was probably the scariest thing that can happen to somebody, thinking you know that might be it."
Police said the men were described as all in their 20s. Two were black males between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, both with short dark hair and dark jackets, according to police, and one was a white male between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall with light hair and a dark hooded sweatshirt.
Two men were on bikes and one was riding an electric scooter, police said.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said to contact Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS if you have any information on the incident.
UCF police are urging students to avoid walking at night by yourself and to walk in groups without distractions. Keep your cell phone and car keys handy so you can reach them quickly.
